For Mr. Zukor October 22nd, 1918.
Mr. Samuel Goldfish

New York.
Dear Mr. Goldfish,
With reference to your telephone communication of yesterday, I am dsincerely impressed with your edicent desire to bring about a harmonious working arrangement, or agreement, between the First National Exhibitors Circuit Inc. and the manufacturers. I further believe
that there is sufficient incentive because
of the stress of the times and sufficient
resourcefulness among the manufacturers
themselves to hit upon some plan that would be concrete and interesting enough to induce the Members of The First National Circuit to have a stockholder's meeting for the purpose of conferring with the manufacturers. If something definite and concrete
that would he interesting to all our Members were offered through the directors in the regular channels of business I am quite sure that our Members would be glad to attend such a conference. I am, however, extremely sorry
that, from the talk I heard at the meeting
yesterday, I cannot see anything sufficient to
Justify a stockholder's meeting at this time.
All I have been able to deduct from the remarks of those who spoke on behalf of the manufacturers
at the meeting has been a desire to
either coerce or intimidate First National
stockholders. I know this is far from your
mind or desire and I am reasonably certain that
the majority of the manufacturers, at least, feel
the same way about it. I sincerely hope that you
will be able to bring about a change in the present frame of mind so that First National stockholders
can be convinced that matters of sufficient
import to them are to be discussed at a meeting
jointly to be held with the manufacturers.
Yours very truly,
