This digital collection contains a complete run of Academy Awards ceremony programs, posters, and rules books, as well as selected photographs and ephemera from the library’s extensive holdings. First presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on May 16, 1929, the Academy Awards are an annual event honoring outstanding achievements in theatrically-released motion pictures. Over the years, the Academy Awards have evolved from a banquet attended by Academy members and film industry insiders into an internationally celebrated theatrical event broadcast live to millions of viewers.
Information on the Academy Awards can also be found scattered throughout member newsletters, press releases and annual reports, which are part of the Academy History Archive.
