Selection of items from the Bison Archives photographs collected by Marc Wanamaker. Marc Wanamaker is a film historian who began amassing the Bison Archives collection in 1971, as he was researching a book on the history of the American motion picture studios. It was named in tribute to the Bison Company, an early motion picture studio (formed in 1909) that produced Westerns featuring Native American casts. The collection consists of more than 70,000 photographic prints, transparencies, and negatives of motion picture production, biography, and subject photographs spanning more than 100 years of film history.
